Management of end of life electrical and electronic equipment (or WEEE) has been recognised as one of the most important environmental issues for the electronics industry at least since the EU’s 2002 WEEE Directive. Since that time, jurisdictions in every corner of the globe have followed suit, adopting the EU’s model to varying degrees. Understanding the nuances of scope and compliance obligations, such as registration and reporting, continues to be a challenge for the industry.
