The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published a detailed update to its Guidance on requirements for substances in articles today. If you import or produce articles, the guidance will give you more clarity on what’s required in terms of communication and notification obligations when SVHCs (substances of very high concern) are contained in articles.
The updated guidance includes new examples in line with the European Court of Justice judgement from September 10, 2015. The big change in that ruling meant that legal obligations also apply to articles that are present in complex products – for example, a component of a TV or car. More information can be found here.
