US EPA -’Significant New Alternatives’ for Ozone Depleting Substances
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently released a new list of acceptable substitutes for ozone-depleting substances, including ‘Hot Shot 2′ for HCFC-22 and HCFC blends (affecting refrigerators, chillers, A/C units, and heat pumps), ‘R-407F’ for HCFC-22 and HCFC-142b (affecting refrigerators and air conditioners), ‘R-507A’ for R-13B1 (affecting retrofit equipment in low temperature refrigeration), and ‘Perfluorobutyl Iodide’ (PFBI) for CFC-113, Methyl Chloroform, HCFC-225ca, and HCFC-225cb (affecting solvent cleaning), ‘Firebane’ for halon 1211 (affecting fire suppressants).
