Speakers


Hannah Janknecht, Senior Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Compliance & Risks
Hannah joined the Global Regulatory Compliance team in Compliance and Risks in September 2022. She is responsible for the monitoring of regulatory developments in German-speaking countries. She is an SME in several areas including ESG reporting, Climate Change, Climate Disclosures, Supply Chain Due Diligence, and Circular Economy. Before joining Compliance and Risks, she worked for the Federal Ministry of Agriculture in Germany in the area of the Common Agricultural Policy.
Hannah studied law in Germany (University of Bonn) and holds an LL.M. in Environmental and Natural Resources Law from University College Cork. She speaks German, English and French.


Joyce Costello, Senior Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Compliance & Risks
Joyce is a regulatory professional with extensive experience in researching and assessing global environmental and product safety regulations, particularly in the electronics sector. Joyce is currently a Senior Regulatory and Compliance Specialist in the Global Regulatory Compliance Team at Compliance and Risks, which she joined in 2013.
With over ten years expertise in global RoHS legislative and product safety conformity assessment requirements, Joyce works closely with customers to assist them in understanding the implications of evolving regulation on their products.
Joyce has a BCL and LLM from University College Cork, and also holds a Higher Diploma in French.


Katrin Ruhl, Counsel, Ashurst
Katrin is a lawyer in Ashurst’s dispute resolution practice with extensive experience representing clients before state courts and in out-of-court proceedings, particularly in construction-related matters.
She advises national and international companies on complex product liability and product safety issues and has significant experience defending mass claims, especially in the life sciences and automotive sectors. Katrin has also supported clients in coordinating multi-jurisdictional litigation and developing comprehensive defense strategies.
Katrin studied law at the University of Augsburg and was admitted to the bar in Germany in 2017.


Dr Martin Eimer, Partner, Ashurst
Martin Eimer is a Partner in Ashurst’s dispute resolution practice in Frankfurt and Munich with extensive experience in commercial litigation, arbitration, and risk management.
He has particular expertise in complex, international construction and engineering projects in the infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing sectors and has advised on some of Germany’s largest mass actions in recent years.
Martin studied law at the Universities of Cologne, Munich, and Regensburg, where he earned his doctorate, and holds an LL.M. from the University of Edinburgh. He was admitted to the bar in 2004 and became a certified FIDIC Adjudicator in 2018.


Roman Brtka, Partner, Ashurst
Roman Brtka is a Partner in Ashurst’s dispute resolution practice in Munich, advising national and international clients on trade mark, design, competition and copyright law.
He has extensive experience across the automotive, telecommunications, media and sports sectors, with particular expertise in EU market entries and ESG-related marketing campaigns, including green advertising and labelling.
Roman studied law at the University of Passau and King’s College London (KCL), and holds a Master of Laws (LL.M. Eur.) Degree from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). He was admitted to the German bar in 2010. He is a qualified Business Mediator and an active member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR), the Design Committee of the European Communities Trade Mark Association (ECTA), and the Institute for Copyright and Media Law Munich (IUM).
Before joining Ashurst in 2024, he was a Partner in the Munich office of the international law firm Bird & Bird.
