Speakers
Joanne O’Donnell: Head of Compliance
With 21 years of post-qualification experience, Joanne heads up the Global Regulatory Compliance team at Compliance and Risks. She has extensive national and international legal experience in private practice, in-house, and industry and has been with Compliance and Risks for over 12 years. She helps support its clients with their global legal compliance challenges with a particular interest and focus on Sustainability, ESG, Climate Change, Human Trafficking, and Slavery as well as Business and Human Rights.
Joanne has a Bachelor of Arts (Legal and French) and a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland as well as a Masters in International Law (LLM) from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva, Switzerland. She also has a Masters Degree in French from the University of Limerick, Ireland. She recently completed a Masters course in Business and Human Rights at the University of Bergen, Norway. She qualified as a Solicitor with the Law Society of Ireland in 2003.
Dila Şen: Global Regulatory & Requirements Compliance Specialist
Dila is a Global Regulatory & Requirements Compliance Specialist at C&R, with over a decade of legal and regulatory experience. A qualified lawyer and sworn translator in Türkiye, she has worked across law firms, industries, and Türkiye’s largest asset management company. At C&R, she leads global compliance projects focused on AI, battery, and pressure equipment regulations and supports clients with legislative research and international standards.
She holds a Law degree from Yeditepe University (full scholarship) and a triple European Master’s in Law and Economics from Bologna, Ghent, and Haifa Universities. She also earned a B.A. in Communication from Istanbul University.
Dila is passionate about AI policy, serving as a research team lead at the Center for AI and Digital Policy and contributing to the Istanbul Bar Association’s AI Working Group. She is fluent in English and a native Turkish speaker.
Sarah-Jane Dobson, Partner, Head of Product Litigation and Product Risk, Safety and Regulatory Practice
Sarah-Jane is a partner in Ashurst. She is an international products lawyer, acting on regulatory, litigious and policy matters across the full product life cycle in respect of product safety, compliance and product liability issues.
Her practice is focused on multi-jurisdictional matters for corporate clients across a range of sectors including consumer goods, cosmetics, chemicals, food and beverages, life sciences, industrial and regulatory compliance and global product recalls.
Her product liability work includes managing large portfolios of international product liability claims, advising on product safety, inquests, public inquiries, judicial reviews, and anti-competitive practices and advertising. Her policy work has focused on assisting clients responding to legislative change, including Brexit, change of regimes (medical devices), and new legislation (collective redress and product sustainability. She has advised clients in respect of submissions to lawmakers regarding the proposed change.
Thomas Panter, Senior Associate – Product Litigation and Regulatory Risk
Thomas is a senior associate in the Product Litigation and Regulatory Risk practice of the Disputes, Investigations, and Advisory division in Ashurst. He has a broad practice covering general commercial, and civil litigation (including group/class actions), regulatory compliance, and investigations. He has acted for a diverse range of corporate clients, including within the technology, E-commerce, consumer goods, food, tobacco, life sciences, industrial and automotive industries.
Thomas’ work has an international focus and touches upon the full product lifecycle, including product launches, ongoing regulatory compliance including advertising issues, enforcement proceedings, supply-chain disputes, recalls, and litigation including group/class actions. He has worked on matters of the highest complexity including multi-jurisdiction issues with the largest spanning more than 190 jurisdictions and some of the most significant group (“or class”) action disputes before the European courts.
