EU Interim Reports: Vacuum Cleaners & Tumble Dryers Ecodesign
The first draft interim reports have been published from the two review studies on ecodesign and energy labeling of vacuum cleaners and tumble dryers.
For tumble dryers, the review study covers the impact of Ecodesign Regulation (EU) No 932/2012 and Energy Labeling Regulation (EU) No 392/2012.
Whereas for vacuum cleaners, the study evaluates the impact of Ecodesign Regulation (EU) No 666/2013 (as amended by Regulation (EU) 2016/2282 with regard to the use of tolerances in verification procedures) and the Energy Labeling Regulation (EU) No 665/2013 (as amended by Regulation (EU) No 518/2014 regarding labeling on the internet and Regulation 254/2017 regarding the use of tolerances in verification procedures).
Both studies will examine the rescaling of the product energy labels back to the A – G energy scale as required by the revised framework Energy Labeling Regulation (EU) 2017/1369.
Circular economy aspects will also be examined and include an assessment regarding resource efficiency such as disassembly, recyclability, reparability and durability following the adoption of the Circular Economy Package and the Ecodesign Working Plan 2016-2019.
